Telenor Bridal Couture Week 2015 (TBCW 2015) was commenced on Friday, June 7th, 2015 in Karachi. The event is the biggest fashion week in Pakistan and is one of the most sought after bridal couture weeks in South Asia. The three day fashion week started off with a great extravaganza and proved that it is totally worth the wait and the hype.
The first day of the TBCW 2015 was all about mesmerizing showstoppers, amazing performances and lavish bridal outfits!
The designers who showcased their collection on Day 1 are:
HSY is one of the reasons I attended the TBCW 2015. The King of Couture never ceases to impress you with his just-perfect collection and, thankfully, he did not disappoint me this time as well. HSY’s Summer Bridal Collection was inspired by the “Royal Darbars” of the subcontinent. He used a heavenly combination of pure silk and chiffon in vibrant and bold colors. The collection comprised of heavily embroidered lehengas, cholis, saris and gowns with traditional embellishments on them. What made his collection even magnificent was the touch of modernism and elegance that he pulled off effortlessly. Sunita Marshal was HSY’s showstopper.
Another great designer with an impressive collection, Riwan Ahmed’s “Jannnat” was all about bridal gowns and trousseaus in white and golden colors with touch of bright pallets to give them a traditional look. He also introduced unique and stylish headgear to go with his decent collection.
Ayesha Ibrahim was lined up next with her collection “Khaista”, a Pashtu word that means “Beautiful”. She seemed determined to come up with new bridal colors that are different from the usual bright tones and worked mostly with watermelon, white, fuscia, coral, magenta and hues of pink on jamawar, silk, net and tissue. She was a Telenor Karo Mumkin star and was presented an award in the end.
Shazia Kiyai’s “Zarbano” was inspired by empowered women, rain and heaven. She played around with shades of grey, silver, blue and brown with heavily embroidered shirts. Suhai Ali Abro walked the ramp for Shazia Kiyani.
“Zebaish” was the collection showcased by Sana Abbas. For this collection her inspiration was our traditional bridal trends. Abbas displayed a variety of outfits ranging from straight pants to maxis to cholis and lehengas which were beautifully adorned with opulent embroidery. Syra Sharoz was the showstopper for Abbas and she completely stole the show with her beige shirt and ivory pants that were paired with a pink dupatta.
Goal by Fozia Hammad
Fozia Hammad’s “An Ode to Colors” was a treat to the eyes. She seemed focused about what she wanted and was successful in putting together a beautiful collection. With light color pallets and intricately embroidered cholis, lehengas, saris and long shirts which were perfectly paired with floral headgear, she definitely displayed her great sense of designing.
DSS by Durreshahwar
While the designer’s “Roselita” collection mostly comprised of silver and ivory outfits with heavy embroidery, DSS by Durreshahwar’s some models also donned bold colors. Sahiba, a veteran actress, was her showstopper.
J. Junaid Jamshed
J.’s menswear was the last collection for Day 1. The collection included a huge variety of his signature sherwanis, pants, turbans and stoles in subtle color pallets.
In addition to this, there were some amazing dance performances by Xxhalay Sarhadi, Ahsan Khan and Amna Ilyas that kept the audience enthralled.
Stay tuned for the roundup of day 2, I will be doing that shortly!
