Last week, I had the experience of my life. I was invited to a CFO Conference by Institute of Chartered accountants Pakistan [ICAP]. It was not the first time I was invited to a conference, being a blogger; I attend such events every now and then. However, it was the first time I decided to attend a finance-related event because usually I just avoid them as more or less they all sound the same to me. And to be honest, I don’t regret my decision at all. In fact, I would like to attend more of such conferences in the future. Continue reading
There was a time when I used to hate politics and believed that only clowns run this business … until my father started discussing it with me in an interesting story-telling manner. Since then I have developed a liking for observing the local and global political scenarios. This perhaps is the reason I am always looking for different perspectives because they always teach me a thing or two. Needless to say every time I come across “one gem of an article”. This time around, it is Pushing mediocrity or promoting innovation?
The internet is a world of magic… you think of something and get it easily by doing a little search. The other day i was craving something sweet yet savory, tasty yet guilt-free and something that i haven’t tried before when a page by the name of L’amour Jams and Spreads appeared on my timeline. The page boasted of being a provider of Organic and Vegan products. still skeptical, i decided to give it a shot because i had to start from somewhere 😀
The day my newborn baby and I were discharged from the hospital, my doctor told me to get done with her the vaccinations on time as they play a vital role in the development of a child. Continue reading
If you ask me, milk is the most underrated commodity. There was a time when no advertisements were done to captivate the attention of customers. However, with the passage of time, brands realized the potential in this segment and began marketing their milk as the most important commodity in a man’s life. Though everyone recognized this fact already in their subconscious mind, banded milk advertisements made loud and clear statements to reinstate the fact strongly. Having said that, each brand came up with their own USP to attract consumers.
Among all this, Nurpur positioned itself as a brand that it true to its “promise” of providing pure milk to the customers. And trust me, never did once they do mention it in their TVC. In fact, the TVC uses an undertone to communicate the message. There are no dialogues involved and the soothing music takes you back to imagining your own family life. To create an emotional connection, there are two cute children who are helping their mom in the kitchen. Sounds familiar, eh? Yes, because admit it or not, we all have tried doing it at some point in our lives. It shows a traditional morning routine of a happy family who is enjoying the most important meal of the day i.e. breakfast. The close up shots of food, tempting sights and whiteness of the milk that is highlighted again and again is a reminder of how pure is their main band attribute.
This is not the first time Nurpur has come up with such an aesthetically pleasant TVC that resonates in our minds. I clearly remember how I used to wait for their brilliant TVC right before Sehri time last Ramzan. I think that was the first ad after the rebranding and repositioning of the brand. I am glad the brand has not lost the tack and is still keeping its uniqueness intact with this new TVC. Definitely looking forward to what they have to offer next!
Follow the campaign hashtag: #HouseOfNurpur for more details
All thanks to the advent of the internet and 4G, now everyone owns a smartphone with superfast internet. Even awesome is the fact that most of people have stated avoiding going out in sweltering heat of summer and waiting in long queues for their turns. Continue reading
Milk and mornings have always been boring for me. Why you ask? Because what’s the charm in it? For a change, I decided to experiment with different breakfast ideas to keep myself entertained and energized throughout the day since breakfast is considered to be the most important meal of the day.
It was just a few months ago that LMKT announced they have won the contract to establish a revolutionary set up National Incubation Centre, Karachi. The center is said to be a state of the art facility that will be equipped with the latest technological equipment to facilitate users. The company will not only design but operate the center as well which is being constructed in collaboration with PTCL, HBL and PPAF.
The sample layout for the center will be something like this:
Those living in Karachi, know how to love this city. They try to do whatever they can to preserve the beauty this city holds. They deploy art and plant exhibitions to show their love. This time around, the citizens went on to next level by reusing the cable reels.
The campaign was sponsored by Pakistan Cables in collaboration with Karachi Biennale Trust (KBT). The public outreach project invited designers, artists and architectures to transform the reels with their drawings. They worked on sites across Karachi and engaged local community to convey their messages.
Each day we see a number of sponsored or paid content on our timelines, thanks to influencer marketing. However, not all the hashtags make us click on them and follow the content.
One such interesting campaign that recently caught my attention belongs to National Food Limited. While I was reading stories on #NotAFailure, I came across this TVC on my Twitter.
Makeup is something most girls can’t resist to. This perhaps is the reason, I ran to Lucky One Mall when I heard there is a bloggers meet that is happening at Make-up City. Matlab, it is like going to heaven :p
Pakistan is progressing and so is Karachi. After hearing a lot about the recently opened Lucky One Mall, I decided to visit it with my sister and her chulbulay bachay. Though the mall is still taking its time to be fully functional, I am happy I went there.
Here is a list of things you should expect when visiting the mall Continue reading
They say, “Health is Wealth”. Rightly so because unless you are not healthy, you won’t be able to enjoy anything in life. This is what I recently realized when an invite to attend Avari Towers Karachi’s OSG landed in my mail. Excited to see what lies within, I decided to pay them a visit. Continue reading
I was watching my favorite TV drama with my one year on my lap when during a commercial, break something caught my attention, that was the new Rooh Afza ad. It got me hooked to the screen till the last second of the commercial because the story of father and daughter shown in the TVC is so compelling and relatable for me. It left me speechless and I started wondering if this is the same company that talked about the same product usage in their ad for decades. Indeed a new and fresh approach.
There are very few people who get excited when it comes to books. Though I am not a book worm or someone who has a treasure of shelves filled with books, thanks to online reads, I make sure I attend literature festivals to keep myself updated with the latest additions in this arena. This time around, my father, whose favorite genre is politics, was also in town so I decided to visit the then upcoming Karachi Literature Festival 2017.
Motorola is back in the game with its new Moto Z. The new smartphone range was launched on February 17th, 2017 by Lenovo through its subsidiary Motorola Mobility. The most talked-about features of the new phone, besides its thinness, are its Moto Mods. Continue reading
Last week I happened to go to a Bloggers’ Meet up which was about the launch of a new app called ‘Tapmad’. For which, I had to miss out on my favorite drama and on my way I couldn’t help but thinking about catching up the episode on YouTube later that night. Little did I know at that point that I am going to get a permanent solution to watching TV while on the go!
If you ask me, I am one of the most unsatisfied smartphone customers (blame my excess usage of social media apps and online reading habit for it). Anyways, so, ever since I have been deprived of my Samasung Galaxy S3 on gun point, a.k.a mobile snatching, my life has been terribly miserable. I couldn’t find a single smartphone that can work effectively without getting hung or confused at what I am commanding them. LOL.
Jokes apart, one day when my Huawei P8 Lite completely refused to start and did not cooperate, I was forced to search about the best phones I can get in the most reasonable price. Though some of these brands are available locally through black market, I usually prefer going for brands that are officially available in Pakistan.
Cutting the long story short, out of four best phones that I came across, two of them aren’t available in Pakistan yet. Sigh and sobs!
How I wish these brands were available in this part of the world as well (I hope so they will think about it soon)
It was the first brand that popped up in my search bar, so I will definitely start with it. Headquartered in China, Xiaomi is determined to introduce the high quality latest technology in an affordable rate. They are already present in Singapore, Philippines, Malaysia, India, Brazil and Indonesia. I hope they further expand their market to Pakistan. So far, their most loved brands by consumers are
Xiaomi Mi Mix
It is the latest addition in Xiaomi’s family. The most futuristic phone with 91.3% screen to body ratio. The almost no-edges design wasn’t easy to develop and required a lot of work in other areas too. Apart from great design, Xiaomi Mi Mix offers 6 GB RAM, 16 MP rear camera, 256 GB storage and a battery of 4400 mAh.
Other notable devices by Xiaomi are:
· Xiami Mi 5
· Xiaomi Mi 4i
· Xiaomi Redmi Note
· Xiaomi Redmi Note 4G
· Xiaomi Redmi 3S Prime.
In 2012, five entrepreneurs decided to open up a small startup that has now grown up to become a full-fledged organization. iDroid USA aims to become the market leader with its cutting edge technology and this mission is the reason they are relying on extremely sophisticated and advanced research methodologies.
iDroid Royal V7
This phone is just perfect for anyone who is looking for a good camera. Its 13 MP rear and 5 MP front cameras are ideal for HD pictures and shoots. V7 is actually a Phablet with 540×960 pixel resolution. With 1 GB RAM and 8 GB ROM, which is comparatively a bit less than other vendors, this phone offers a decent design, which is unlikely to be found in other counterparts. Instead of round edges, V7 has rectangular corners to give you a premium feel.
Other phones of iDroid that I look forward to are:
· iDroid Apache G6
· Tango 2 White
· iDroid BALR X7
· Tango A5
Apart from these, I would really like to see Amazon phones making their way in the Pakistani market. However, I think these two brands will probably be successful in making me forget my previous phone by staying with me through thick and thin. RIP Samsung Galaxy S3!
Smartphones have given rise to a whole new level of a digital world we live in. Be it shopping from your favorite brands, interacting with your distant friends/relatives or opting for an online service to get your work done, we have become totally dependent on our smartphones. Continue reading
Now that you are here to find out the chick, let me tell you, you won’t regret reading about the tenderness and juiciness this scrumptious delicacy is made of. C’mon, do not be a pervert. We are talking about Golden Chick, the new chicken outlet that is winning the hearts (and tummies) of Karachiites and not the one you were thinking about 😉
Over the years, Dolmen Mall has established itself as the favorite destination of shoppers. And why not? With so many brands under one roof, amazing activities that are happening almost every other day and shopping festivals that keep enticing the customers, the group of shopping malls have become an ultimate destination for family and friends get-together. This time around, the leading chain of shopping malls kicked off its annual shopping festival, Dolmen Shopping Festival (DSF) on December 16th, 2016. The fun filled festival will last for 17 days while offering amazing discounts and exciting activities to its visitors.
So, it was a boring and a seemingly never-ending day when all of a sudden colors started to spread on my timeline. Beautiful and amazing nail arts they were, just what I wanted to cheer myself up. After a while, one of the friends tagged in a post that we are going to have a ladies day out at Hollywood Nail Factory on Tuesday at Zamzama Mall, Karachi. The rest of the day was just difficult to pass amid all the excitement. For the first time in my life, I Googled ‘Nail Arts’, yes, I did that so that I can have the best nail art to beautify my hands! Continue reading
Pakistan is one of those countries which have been struggling since its birth. This country has seen a lot in its 68 years of independence – be it losing a part of it (East Pakistan), defending itself on several fronts from enemy’s attacks or fighting terrorism which is aimed at weakening it. However, despite all these sad state of affairs and challenges, there is one thing that overshadows everything – that is the beauty of Pakistan and the contribution of its people towards the betterment of the world. This is the brighter picture of Pakistan that needs to be highlighted so that people can see the real Pakistan – Sonehra Pakistan. Continue reading
With the advent of social media, even mute individuals have started speaking. They share their thoughts; explain events and their details in ways most profound public speakers cannot do. This is the power of words and undoubtedly the miracles of social media.
The online world of social media is dynamic and fast-paced. It changes in seconds and require you to do the same. If you think that a company page you created a couple of years ago is enough to build good reputation of your company, you are day-dreaming. Continue reading
I think social media is the new synonym for ‘depression’. Why? Because (a) every time you log in there someone is at a rocking concert or is heading out to a hip spot to hang out with their friends (b) If you are not a social butterfly or not hanging out at that time, it makes you feel jealous. This can lead to FOMO – Fear Of Missing Out – which, obviously, is a kind of depression. And you surely do not want to suffer from it. Continue reading
I was still in awe after seeing the Tapal Danedar’s interesting OOH when almost everyone on my timeline started talking about ‘Let’s Be There For Pakistan not just on 14th August but all year round!’ video. Surprisingly, it was by Tapal too. I clicked on the link and got hooked to the screen. Continue reading

To be very frank, I was least bothered about ‘social media marketing and its impacts’ unless I started looking for a job in the same line. The fear of questions related to this topic to be asked in interviews compelled me to search more and more about it. The result; here I am able to write a whole article on this amazing topic. I hope it will help you to mark your own presence in the digital world. Continue reading

Since digital media does not allow any mistakes, you have to be very careful when dealing with it. One single mistake -any typo, false claim or amateur photo editing and you are out of competition . What remains after this is sarcastic jokes and digital impersonation of your mistake, reminding people of it time and again. Continue reading

So, you have got 4,375 friends on Facebook, 11, 028 are following you on Twitter and 15, 980 professionals are connected with you via LinkedIn, and you boast these figures? Do You? If you do, then I am afraid you need to think again if this is actually what you want. Reexamine the list and try to remember the faces and names you truly know. How many of them can you trust with your shared information?
Find it difficult to recall oodles of contacts there? Do you really think the ‘unknowns’ can keep your information, pictures and data private or are they the ones who randomly leak your family and personal photos on the internet and then a friend calls you up and congratulates you on being a ‘Hot topic’ on the internet today? Pakistan Fashion Week Doha (PFW Doha) started on April 30th 2015 in Doha and continued till May 1st, 2015. As I have already discussed in my previous blog, a number of local designers from Pakistan participated in this fashion show. While some of the collections surprised the attendees with their sheer creativity, some of them were not at par with the international fashion standards and failed miserably at fulfilling the expectations of the audience. “Woman commits suicide with 2 children over dowry”
“Woman ends her life for not bringing enough dowry”
“Woman burnt for not asking dowry from her parents”
These are just few of many headlines from newspapers that popped up when I entered the word “Dowry” on Google. Needless, to say many of such cases go unreported because a bride’s parents are too ‘poor’ or ‘powerless’ to even get justice.

From shirts, trousers, polo shirts, jackets, sweaters and accessories, the website is a game changer in men’s fashion. Continue reading
The marketing strategies for telco brands had been a bit mainstream and obvious in the past few years. It either used comic, satire or unnecessarily stretched dance numbers to convince users to switch to their network. Though these tactics are entertaining and fun to watch, they seriously lacked inspiration. However, recently while watching the #TelenorRawaan ad, I was hooked to the screen.

I am not a very tech-savvy person; however I am always searching for a smartphone that offers exceptional experience. This time around, I was eyeing at HTC Desire 626G. However, to my disappointment, there was no local distributor of HTC in Pakistan. Then one day, I stumbled upon a news piece announcing that HTC is soon going to be launched in Pakistan by Muller and Phipps (M&P). I was already excited and this excitement doubled up when I received the invite to the launch event of #HTCPakistan.
Over the years, Mother’s Day has become a great platform for children to appreciate the efforts and love of their mothers. This year too, a number of brands came up with exciting campaigns to commemorate this day. However, once campaign that caught my attention was #TangMissedCall.
Mountain Dew is that one brand which never ceases to impress me. Be it their interesting TVCs or even engaging online activities along with digital integration. The brand sure knows how to grab the attention of its audience. Continue reading

When it comes to amazing campaigns and creative OOH advertising, there is one name that pops up in my mind – i.e. Lay’s Pakistan. And why not? If I look back at the recent campaigns the brand has come up with such as #LaysLegends, #CleanAndGreen #CricketCrunch, its association with UEFA Champion’s League, choosing Messi and Wasim Akram as its brand ambassadors and now installation of this giant creative football stadium at The Palm, Karachi, the brand has never ceased to amaze me. Recently Lay’s Pakistan has been very active with its corporate social responsibility campaigns. The latest campaign that talks about the love for Pakistan featuring Wasim Akram tells us how empty Lay’s packs can be used to grow plants for a clean and green Pakistan. The second part of the campaign focuses on a beach activity in Karachi in which some youngsters took part in cleaning activity and used the recyclable trash for holding trash. The main objective of the campaign is to motivate consumers to enjoy the little joys of life while having their favorite chips. Continue reading
Lay’s Pakistan has been making news for quite a while now. First off, they came up with a mesmerizing campaign featuring #AkramAndMessi (Waseem Akram and Messi) which made the audience applaud the wonderful combination of the duo and now the latest bumper of Wasim Akram where he is promoting a CSR message of making Pakistan clean and green.
Sounds interesting, right? It indeed is. It has been a while, I have seen some brand with a good and constructive message. The objective of this campaign is to convince people to use the packs of #Lay’s and plant a tree. Wondering how is it possible? It is very simple. Just turn the empty pack of the chips inside out and fill it with soil. Now sow seeds in it and tada!! You have contributed your part in making a eco-friendly environment. Continue reading

So, I logged in on Twitter yesterday and the only thing I saw there was that everybody was talking about their X-es, strange, right? I was shocked too. Now guess which company is going to launch this new product, the rumor has it that it is Mobilink. Continue reading

Children are a gift of God. No doubt they need to be handled with care all the time – from the moment they are born to the age they enter adulthood. However, the most crucial phase is right after the birth till they are two years old. This is the time when children start learning the most. This is the time when they are growing and need a healthy lifestyle that can make the foundation of a happy and balanced life later on. Since there is a lack of awareness in our society about what diet should be given or not to these children, Nestle Pakistan decided to take an initiative and embarked on a mission to let mothers know about the ‘Start Healthy, Stay Healthy’ campaign. Therefore, your absence there might upset your audience and this is what you never want to happen. Continue reading
