Karachi is a beautiful city that is home to many people but this beauty can not be preserved if the people are not willing to keep their city clean. In order to take a step forward and beautify those areas of our city once again, EFU Life initiated the project “Meri Shaan Mera Pakistan” which had been successful in painting a 2000 sq ft wall at Ayesha Manzil. Passion for new Fashion!

Why is fashion every woman’s weakness? What makes her yearn for that Balmain Dress or those new Prada bags that smell like money? Is it the joy they feel when they hear other women gasp when they see her wearing the dress that’s “in” these days? Perhaps. Is it the fact that, deep down, even the most modest woman likes to show off her clothes and feel accepted? Maybe. But the main reason she wants to surround herself with gorgeous and ridiculously priced dresses is self-satisfaction. Continue reading

Why Lucky One Mall is a Must-Visit for every Shopaholic

Pakistan is progressing and so is Karachi. After hearing a lot about the recently opened Lucky One Mall, I decided to visit it with my sister and her chulbulay bachay. Though the mall is still taking its time to be fully functional, I am happy I went there.

Here is a list of things you should expect when visiting the mall Continue reading

A Day with Avari Towers Karachi’s #OSG

They say, “Health is Wealth”. Rightly so because unless you are not healthy, you won’t be able to enjoy anything in life. This is what I recently realized when an invite to attend Avari Towers Karachi’s OSG landed in my mail. Excited to see what lies within, I decided to pay them a visit. Continue reading

Shan Did What No One Else Has Done Before – #KhaanaWithParosi

If we look around, all we see are brands advertising left, right and center. This has somewhat diminished the charm of advertising and savvy consumers are less likely to be wowed with the clichéd ads. Considering the scenario, Shan came up as a cutter breaker with its new TVS #KhaanaWithParosi.

Karachi Literature Festival 2017 – A Treat for the Mind

There are very few people who get excited when it comes to books. Though I am not a book worm or someone who has a treasure of shelves filled with books, thanks to online reads, I make sure I attend literature festivals to keep myself updated with the latest additions in this arena. This time around, my father, whose favorite genre is politics, was also in town so I decided to visit the then upcoming Karachi Literature Festival 2017.

Lenovo Launches Revolutionary Moto Z in Pakistan

Last week I happened to go to a Bloggers’ Meet up which was about the launch of a new app called ‘Tapmad’. For which, I had to miss out on my favorite drama and on my way I couldn’t help but thinking about catching up the episode on YouTube later that night. Little did I know at that point that I am going to get a permanent solution to watching TV while on the go!

2 Reasonably Priced Phone Brands I Wish to see in Pakistan

If you ask me, I am one of the most unsatisfied smartphone customers (blame my excess usage of social media apps and online reading habit for it). Anyways, so, ever since I have been deprived of my Samasung Galaxy S3 on gun point, a.k.a mobile snatching, my life has been terribly miserable. I couldn’t find a single smartphone that can work effectively without getting hung or confused at what I am commanding them. LOL.

Jokes apart, one day when my Huawei P8 Lite completely refused to start and did not cooperate, I was forced to search about the best phones I can get in the most reasonable price. Though some of these brands are available locally through black market, I usually prefer going for brands that are officially available in Pakistan.

Cutting the long story short, out of four best phones that I came across, two of them aren’t available in Pakistan yet. Sigh and sobs!

How I wish these brands were available in this part of the world as well (I hope so they will think about it soon)

Xiaomi

It was the first brand that popped up in my search bar, so I will definitely start with it. Headquartered in China, Xiaomi is determined to introduce the high quality latest technology in an affordable rate. They are already present in Singapore, Philippines, Malaysia, India, Brazil and Indonesia. I hope they further expand their market to Pakistan. So far, their most loved brands by consumers are

Xiaomi Mi Mix

It is the latest addition in Xiaomi’s family. The most futuristic phone with 91.3% screen to body ratio. The almost no-edges design wasn’t easy to develop and required a lot of work in other areas too. Apart from great design, Xiaomi Mi Mix offers 6 GB RAM, 16 MP rear camera, 256 GB storage and a battery of 4400 mAh.

Other notable devices by Xiaomi are:

· Xiami Mi 5

· Xiaomi Mi 4i

· Xiaomi Redmi Note

· Xiaomi Redmi Note 4G

· Xiaomi Redmi 3S Prime.

iDroid USA

In 2012, five entrepreneurs decided to open up a small startup that has now grown up to become a full-fledged organization. iDroid USA aims to become the market leader with its cutting edge technology and this mission is the reason they are relying on extremely sophisticated and advanced research methodologies.

iDroid Royal V7

This phone is just perfect for anyone who is looking for a good camera. Its 13 MP rear and 5 MP front cameras are ideal for HD pictures and shoots. V7 is actually a Phablet with 540×960 pixel resolution. With 1 GB RAM and 8 GB ROM, which is comparatively a bit less than other vendors, this phone offers a decent design, which is unlikely to be found in other counterparts. Instead of round edges, V7 has rectangular corners to give you a premium feel.

Other phones of iDroid that I look forward to are:

· iDroid Apache G6

· Tango 2 White

· iDroid BALR X7

· Tango A5

Apart from these, I would really like to see Amazon phones making their way in the Pakistani market. However, I think these two brands will probably be successful in making me forget my previous phone by staying with me through thick and thin. RIP Samsung Galaxy S3!

Call the Band Celebrates 15 Years With Fans!

Excited to read the name “Call” I decided to examine the hashtag and it got better with every passing minute.

Turkish Food Festival at Asia Live, Avari Towers – Review

If you have lived in Turkey or enjoyed their traditional food in the Middle East before, you will definitely know my struggle to find the similar authentic Turkish taste in Pakistan. So, after I was disappointed in finding the best Hummus in Karachi that tasted exactly like the one they have in the Middle East, a friend referred me to the ongoing Turkish Food Festival at Avari Towers. Intrigued by the name only, I decided to give it a try because among all the high end hotels I know; only Avari Towers is well-known for celebrating food festivals from different regions where they do not compromise on the taste and quality. After a while, one of the friends tagged in a post that we are going to have a ladies day out at Hollywood Nail Factory on Tuesday at Zamzama Mall, Karachi. The internet is a cluttered place. You find here people, millions of companies and their representatives bragging about their products. Each one of them wants to be the market leader. How to Survive the Social Media War

It’s All about Faking Your Social Life Online

Image

I think social media is the new synonym for ‘depression’. Why? Because (a) every time you log in there someone is at a rocking concert or is heading out to a hip spot to hang out with their friends (b) If you are not a social butterfly or not hanging out at that time, it makes you feel jealous. This can lead to FOMO – Fear Of Missing Out – which, obviously, is a kind of depression. And you surely do not want to suffer from it. Continue reading

Why Do Businesses Use Social Media to Influence People?

I hope it will help you to mark your own presence in the digital world. Continue reading

5 Deadly Sins of Social Media Marketing

Today, almost every organization has embraced social media. Still, we see only few frequently there; others are active only once in a blue moon.

Since digital media does not allow any mistakes, you have to be very careful when dealing with it. One single mistake -any typo, false claim or amateur photo editing and you are out of competition . What remains after this is sarcastic jokes and digital impersonation of your mistake, reminding people of it time and again. Continue reading

The Indigestible Truth About Your Social Media Friends

So, you have got 4,375 friends on Facebook, 11, 028 are following you on Twitter and 15, 980 professionals are cFacebook-imaginary-friends-comiconnected with you via LinkedIn, and you boast these figures? Do You? If you do, then I am afraid you need to think again if this is actually what you want. Reexamine the list and try to remember the faces and names you truly know. How many of them can you trust with your shared information?

Find it difficult to recall oodles of contacts there? Do you really think the ‘unknowns’ can keep your information, pictures and data private or are they the ones who randomly leak your family and personal photos on the internet and then a friend calls you up and congratulates you on being a ‘Hot topic’ on the internet today? The Best of Mercedes Benz Pakistan Fashion Week Doha 2015

Pakistan Fashion Week Doha (PFW Doha) started on April 30th 2015 in Doha and continued till May 1st, 2015. While some of the collections surprised the attendees with their sheer creativity, some of them were not at par with the international fashion standards and failed miserably at fulfilling the expectations of the audience. Are Your Private Facebook Messages Really Private?

The good thing about Facebook is that you can either talk to your friends ‘publicly’ (via their wall) or simply message them privately. Many of us use the latter option for sharing videos and links with selected audience. The flabbergasting fact is that someone is keeping an eye on your private chat as well.

Yes, Facebook is tracking down the number of links of pages that are shared either publicly or in private. Not only do they are monitored regularly, they are also added to the total number of ‘Likes’ a page has. Continue reading

Say No To Dowry, Bring Innovation in Relationships!

“Woman commits suicide with 2 children over dowry”

“Woman ends her life for not bringing enough dowry”

“Woman burnt for not asking dowry from her parents”

These are just few of many headlines from newspapers that popped up when I entered the word “Dowry” on Google. Needless, to say many of such cases go unreported because a bride’s parents are too ‘poor’ or ‘powerless’ to even get justice.

Discover The Beauty of Pakistan with #TelenorRawaan

The marketing strategies for telco brands had been a bit mainstream and obvious in the past few years. 5 Beauty Hacks That Can Save Your Life

Life is busy. Each of us is fighting a war against time. It is like too much to be done in too less time, right? At the same time, you have to look after yourself as well. Being a woman, you have to do hair to look good, make up to look perfect and what not? Sounds tough, eh? But what if I told there are some quick beauty tips to help you get ready in minutes instead of hours, and that too effortlessly? Yes, it is possible.
Without wasting any more time, let us take a look at some life-saving beauty hacks that have always saved me whenever I was in beauty emergency.

1.     Fix an Overgrown or Chipped Manicure with an Ombré Effect

No matter how good nail color you have used, after some time, it will either start to fade away or reveal the grown plain nail. For this, you do not have to reapply the lacquer; here is a quick and long lasting fix: use glitter to cover up the plain area. It will look pretty and chic.

11

2.     Use Your Lipstick Enhance Your Cheekbone and Eyes

You do not have to carry around a whole make up kit with you all the time. Learn about the multiple uses of a lipstick. It is easy to carry and occupies less space in your bag. Just keep a peach, pink or red lip color with you (according to your skin tone) and use it on your cheeks and eyes to add a little color to your features, and it is done.

12

3.     Use Petroleum Jelly to Wipe Off a Messy Eye Liner

Want to apply a perfectly winged eyeliner but cannot pull it off in one go? Here is a tip, apply some petroleum jelly on a cotton swab and remove all the traces of imperfect eyeliner. Now try applying the liner again, and again, if required, unless you get the desired style.

13

Use Nude Eye Pencil to Make Your Eyes Look Bigger

There is one thing that always fascinates me in every Disney princess and that is the big beautiful eyes they all have. I always wanted my eyes to look like that and recently found out the secret to having such eyes. The trick is simple. You have to use a nude eye pencil on the lower eyelid to make the eyes look big and wide awake.

14

5.     Get Smoky Eyes in Seconds

So, you have to go to a party right after the work and you do not have much time, no problem at all. Just smudge the eyeliner that you have been wearing since morning and it is done!

15

You do not have to spend hours to look beautiful. Just know about the right product and its right application at the right time and you are ready to rock anywhere.

Coke Studio Season 9 set for launch: Will feature Amjad Sabri

Amjad Sabri 1

Karachi, June 24, 2016: Season 9 of the signature fusion music platform Coke Studio will be remembered by fans for all time to come, as Amjad Sabri, who passed away tragically just a few days ago, will be seen performing in this Season. In what is probably the last studio recording, Amjad Sabri together with Rahat Fateh Ali Khan read the qawwali, Aj Rang Hai.

With the duo of Bilal Maqsood & Faisal Kapadia of Strings as Executive Producers, the Season will bring together multiple music directors, delivering music of different genres will bring forth the talent of some of the most accomplished and major names of the industry including Noori, Shani Arshad, Jaffer Zaidi, Shiraz Uppal, Faakhir Mehmood and Shuja Haider.

Although Amjad Sabri did not feature in previous seasons of Coke Studio, Tajdar e Haram was performed in Season 8 last year by Atif Aslam, as a tribute to the original performers, Ghulam Farid Sabri and Maqbool Ahmed Sabri. Amjad Sabri had also helped Coke Studio on this rendition. The rendition gained worldwide fame with over 33 million views on digital media. Speaking about his kalaam during the recording in May, the late Amjad Sabri had stated, “About 40 years ago, my father and Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan read this kalaam at a dargah in Karachi and 40 years later, Rahat and I are reading it again (on Coke Studio Season 9).”

“Coke Studio is the ultimate manifestation of Coca-Cola’s music strategy and Season 9 will further strengthen Coca-Cola’s cultural leadership, celebrating diversity while bridging barriers relevant to the youth of today,” stated Rizwan U. Khan, General Manager of Coca-Cola Pakistan, and added, “It is very distressing that Amjad Sabri himself will not be with all of us to see Season 9 go on air in August. His death is a huge national loss.”

The vast talent on the music direction and production side will be matched in Season 9 by a dazzling array of artists, many of whom have performed in previous Coke Studio seasons, as well as several upcoming and talented singers performing for the first time in Coke Studio. While national icons who have performed previously include the likes of Abida Parveen, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Sanam Marvi, Umair Jaswal, QB, Saieen Zahoor, Ali Azmat, Noori, Zeb Bangash, Faakhir and Meesha Shafi to name a few, the new artists include Shilpa Rao, Mehwish Hayat, Momina Mustehsan, Natasha Khan, Ali Khan, Rizwan Butt, Basit, Rachel Viccaji, Nirmal Roy and of course the maestro of qawwali, Amjad Sabri.

“We’ve always believed in collaborations because this is how the industry grows. After the monumental response of season 8, we decided to bring onboard 6 of Pakistan’s leading music directors to be a part of Coke Studio. Our vision since season 7 has been to involve more and more people from our music industry and make this platform a collective dream. When we presented the idea to Coca-Cola, they loved it and were fully supportive. It was a challenging task and our guidance was required throughout the process, but today we are extremely satisfied that we took this initiative.” Strings commented.

The unrivaled success of Coke Studio over the years in connecting deeply and emotionally with the people and especially the youth, is evident from its immense digital footprint with 6.3 million fans on Facebook, more than 170 million YouTube views and 7.5 million plus audio streams. It is viewed by fans in some 150 countries and has been exported to 20 countries. In Pakistan it has proved to be a unique platform for high profile projection of everyone associated with the music industry, including singers, back up vocalists, composers, producers, musicians and technical persons of every possible specialty, without whose invaluable contribution no Season could have been produced.
